Featuring nearly 60 varied walks between 21st May and 1st June 2011, the fourth National Forest Walking Festival offers an excellent opportunity to explore.
From a gentle stroll, walks for the whole family, walks suitable for wheelchair users, to longer more strenuous rambles for keen walkers, the packed programme has something for everyone!
All guided walks are led by expert guides keen to pass on their knowledge about the area’s rich & varied history, flora & fauna, geology, myths & legends.
The National Forest is one of Britain’s boldest environmental projects, where nearly 8 million trees have been planted in less than 20 years – a massive ‘Forest for the nation’ is being created across 200 square miles of gentle countryside.
The National Forest Walking Festival is organised by South Derbyshire District Council.

If the thought of winning something gives you the motivation to get involved, then the organisers have arranged a couple of competitions.
Take along your camera to an event then send in your best pictures, for a chance to win £50.
Just by taking part you could also win. Join in any of the walks and you also have a chance to win £50. Simply complete an evaluation form after the walk, and hand it to a walk leader or send it back by Freepost.
