Chepstow became an official Walkers are Welcome town On 5th May 2012, the first in Monmouthshire and they are “chuffed to bits.”
Thanks to the opening of the Wales Coast Path which begins (ends) at Chepstow and together with Offa’s Dyke Path has really put Chepstow on the walker’s map.
There are 1,030 miles of walking opportunities right around the Welsh border, the only country in the world you can do this.
Chepstow can also boast two further Long distance Paths the Gloucestershire Way and Wye Valley Walk.
Local businesses and accommodation providers are all banding together to make the town and its surrounding villages a haven for walkers of all abilities and to carry on developing a trails which are accessible to all.
Their work as a group, is to support the facilities for walkers including encouraging the maintenance of existing footpaths and developing new paths to ensure the residents and visitors to Chepstow and the surrounding Monmouthshire countryside have the very best experience.
